Welcome to Cycle 3!

Welcome to Cycle 3!

With two cycles under our belts, we’re embarking on our next 100,000 pages. This cycle began in September of 2023 and will run through August 2025. In these two years we are excited to bring you titles such as The Weekly Visitor, Le Progres, La Libert’a, and the East Providence Eagle.

This cycle, we are excited to work with non-English language Rhode Island newspapers and to host a visit from Robin Pike, Digital Collection Services Section in the Serial and Government Publications Division at the Library of Congress. We are looking forward to seeing what we can learn from the papers this cycle regarding the history of Rhode Island’s textile manufacturing, impacts of industrialization on the environment, and which historic products we still have a hankering to buy.

It is April 2024 and we already have two batches, Annishag and Barbed Devil, submitted to the Library of Congress and have Cavebear almost out the door. Our batch naming convention is based on Dungeons and Dragons monsters and our names are Laura and Audrey! Stay tuned to see what we do on the project and what haunts we have in store!

Happily digitizing,
Laura Motley (Digital Projects Technician)
Audrey Buhain (Digital Projects Assistant)
